Love the ambiance.Tthe food is home-cooked and delicious. The music and the simple Caribbean decor are just absolutely charming. Had to wait a bit for service, and came in after the normal lunch crowd, so not everything was available...but delicious and worth the trip! We should have more throughout the coast!

El Habanero is an excellent choice for a very reasonably priced lunch or dinner. For $8 or less, you can enjoy the best Cuban food this side of Tampa. I recommend the Palomilla Steak or Puerco Asado, served with maduros (sautéed, sweet plantains) and another side like beans or rice.
The atmosphere is colorful and charming, as El Habanero is located in one of the historic villas on Burns Court. I love to stop in for a quick bite to eat, and then walk a few doors down to enjoy a movie at the Burns Court Cinema. The delicious food, cheerful atmosphere and excellent service make El Habanero one of my favorite Sarasota restaurants.

Located downtown in the historic Burns Court area, El Habanero serves authentic Cuban cuisine at very reasonable prices. Set in a very low key and relaxed atmosphere El Habanero delivers great Cuban food without breaking the bank. There are always daily specials available for those who want to experiment a little.

Try a pitcher of sangria with your meal and finish off with a cup of real Cuban coffee. Give El Habanero a try, you'll become a regular.
