SARASOTA RESTAUTRANTS COLLECT THE HARDWARE One measure of success is the size of your trophy case. Judging by the announcements from Florida Trend some local restaurants should be building a larger one. Among this years Golden Spoon honorees are, Dereks Culinary Casual, Mozaic (1377 Main St. Downtown), Libbys Café + Bar (1917 Osprey Ave, Southside Village) and the Selva Grill (1345 Main St. Downtown). And, lets not stop there. Louies Modern (1289 N.Palm Ave. Downtown) and Shore Diner (465 John Ringling Blvd. St. Armands) were tapped as Best New Restaurants. Michaels on East (1212 S. East Ave.) joins the Golden Spoon Hall of Fame!
UP ON THE HOUSETOP Leave it to Beach Bistro/Eat Heres Sean Murphy to throw a super cool holiday bash. Youre invited to enjoy some festive holiday cheer on DEC 20th from 5pm to 7:30pm. Theyll be serving $5 beer/wine and $5 small plates. It all happens at the fountain in front of the downtown Eat Here restaurant (1888 Main St. Downtown). OLD NEWS Yeah, yeah, I know this is old news. Im not happy to be recycling this stuff either. But, its a BIG food announcement and some of you may have been vacationing on the moon last week and missed this. So as not to bore you, here is the condensed version. Five well established names in the restaurant biz will be setting up shop at the new University Town Center set to open next fall. They are (in no particular order): The Cheesecake Factory, The Capital Grill, Brio Tuscan Grill, Kona Grill and Seasons 52. Thats 3 out of 5 grills for those keeping score.
