The LIST Best of 2010: #7 Morocco

How about something a little different? That’s exactly what you can expect from the next restaurant on our list. We’re extremely lucky here in Sarasota when it comes to the diversity and variety of our dining choices. After all, it’s not every community that has a fantastic Moroccan restaurant just spring up from seemingly out of nowhere.

#7 Morocco

Located on South Tamiami Trail in a space that has housed a thousand and one short lived restaurants, is one of Sarasota’s culinary gems. At Morocco, they are creating some amazing and delicious dishes that reflect the flavors of the southern Mediterranean region.

The menu has so many interesting dishes it can be hard to choose. My personal favorite is the Tagine Mouton avec Legume. A tagine made with lamb shank that is so tender that a knife would be a ridiculous request. Carrots and zucchini in a nice saffron broth round out this dish which I’m sure qualifies as Moroccan comfort food.
