The pursuit of perfection is a noble cause. Even when it’s just a sandwich.
A quick history lesson. Does the name John Montagu ring a bell? No. Well, how about his more popular moniker, the 4th Earl of Sandwich? Yes. Now you’ve got it. Since the 18th century when The Earl invented/discovered/created the first sandwich, people have been trying to improve on the theme.
There are a lot of sandwiches out there. Let’s have quick review: Club Sandwich, Sloppy Joe, Reuben, Monte Cristo, Grilled Cheese, BLT, Muffuletta, Dagwood, Po’ boy, Pilgrim, French Dip, Philadelphia Cheesesteak, Submarine sandwich, Hamburger and lastly, the humble PB & J. It’s pretty darn crowded in sandwichland.
I love a good sandwich as much (or more) than the next guy. Readers of this space probably already know that. So, imagine my delight when I encountered a handheld that turned sandwich making upside down.
Constructing the perfect sandwich takes patience. It is a combination of art, culinary skill and plain old trial and error. Why don’t we try our hand at one.
First, start with a super delicious, fresh baked La Brea Bakery Bun. Then you very tenderly stuff it with: crispy grouper cheeks, Applewood bacon, onion rings, lettuce and tomato. Finally, slather on a good amount of Chipotle Remoulade. Voilà! It’s a Crispy Grouper Cheeks “B-O-L-T”.
Serve this beauty with Salt N’ Peppa Fries and an American Craft Beer and what do you get? Libby’s $10 Handheld & American Craft Beer Special. That’s what.
Every Tuesday this fall, Libby’s Café + Bar is testing the limits of sandwich making supremacy. This is more than just a lunch special. It’s a sandwich show & tell. They’ll show you what they have come up with and you’ll be dying to tell them just how much you love it!
OK, I’ve got some good news for you. No, it’s not a free sandwich. That would be good news though. Through an amazing stroke of good fortune, I’ve got a sneak peek at the final two handheld specials for the month of October. You can check them out now and get your mouth watering ahead of time.

Grouper Cheeks BOT sounds and looks amazing. Do you think it will be available late November and beyond?
It’s not on their regular lunch menu. Just a special. So, best advise is to call ahead.
