South Philly Comes To The South Trail

A dose of brotherly love comes to SRQ.

There are a bunch of great sandwich shops here in Sarasota. Each one touts their own specialty. Some feature regional favorites, some offer a more generic cross section of sandwiches. A lot of places offer a Philly cheesesteak. Only one of them has the REAL deal.

Recently opened Gentile Bros., features the genuine article. Right down to the bread that is flown in from Philadelphia. Trust me, that little extra makes all the difference in the world.

As you can see from the photo, I had mine wit and whiz. That’s cheesesteak lingo for topped with Cheez Whiz and delicious sautéed onions. For me that’s the only way it should be served. I think they even put that luscious, golden Cheez Whiz on with a wooden stick like they do in the old neighborhood.
