In a world of burgers it’s the sides that make all difference.
It seems the world has gone burger crazy. At a time when lots of folks are talking veganism and the like, the burger has taken off. It’s like an insane parallel universe. The constant drone of how great plant based consumption is for your overall well-being. And, I have no doubt that it is. But, that train of thought is on a side by side track with an explosion of new burger joints.
These new style temples of burgerdom haven’t totally forgotten the health conscious crowd. Most of them offer some type of meatless or meat free burger alterative. Whether it’s portabella or black bean, there is something between a bun for nearly everyone.
One of the unintended benefits of the burger boom has been the elevation of the French fry. That’s right, the under appreciated and sometimes lowly fry. It’s having a rebirth right under our noses. And, trust me that resurgence has been extremely tasty.
Here we go. We’re looking for an example. Well a delicious one can be found right here in Sarasota at S’Macks Burgers & Shakes.
Officially those are Garlic Herb Parmesan Fries. Unofficially, let’s just say, WOW!
I’m just so happy that in all of the current fuss about the burger, it’s customary side dish hasn’t been left behind in the ditch. These designer fries are the perfect example of what should accompany a great burger. Fried to a crunchy perfection then sprinkled with some flavorful parmesan cheese, herbs and splash of garlic. I’m not the biggest fan of the crinkle cut, but, I may be coming around a little. Those little crinkles hold every last bit of fry flavor.
S’Macks Cheese Fries are also worthy of your accompaniment consideration AND you can add bacon! Sorry vegans.
