📆 Food Holidays to Celebrate!
March is National Celery Month! Enjoy! 😀
🥔 March 7 – National Latke Day (Wolfie’s & Palm Ave. Deli)
🍀 March 17 – St. Patrick’s Day (Sláinte!)
🥪 March 18 – National Sloppy Joe Day (Yoder’s & Der Dutchman)
🍝 March 20 – National Ravioli Day (La Violetta & Cafe Gabbiano)
🫓 March 29 – National Pita Day (Duo Döner & Nikki’s Greek Cafe)
📋 The LIST – March 2026
Let’s take a look at how things stack up this month!

It’s Masō on top of the heap two months in a row. They’re just getting things rolling over there at their Merchant’s Pointe location. Once they get established, this will be a hard place to get a res.
Wally’s Pour House. It does my heart good to see a “dive bar” land at number two!
Stone crab season helps launch Walt’s into our Top 5 for the first time in a while. Keep on crackin’. If you haven’t been in a while and need a quick brush-up on the full Walt’s menu, we can help. – SEE WALT’S MENU HERE!
It is just SO interesting how this list keeps changing. Yes, some of it is driven by who we feature in our newsletter. But a lot of it is very organic. We haven’t written about Walt’s (4) or Roessler’s (20) in ages.
📝 As we move closer to Mother’s Day and Easter, don’t be surprised to see some of the more upscale places move on up that list (Michael’s On East, Summerhouse, Duval’s…). Lots of you will be searching for places to celebrate those two occasions, which are BIG dine-out days.
🌭 Hot Dog!
When we wrote about the ballpark food at Ed Smith last week, we promised you a little peek into what an elevated hot dog could look and taste like.
Hot dogs and baseball have been joined at the hip for over 130 years! That is a long-lasting and tasty relationship!
Now, you may not be able to get a wagyu weenie at Ed Smith. But there are some parks that serve them. Let’s have a quick jog around the bases. 🏃♂️
The El Tiempo Cantina at Daikin Park in Houston (this is where the Astros play) has a Tex-Mex Wagyu Dog on their menu.
North of the border, the Rogers Centre, home to the Toronto Blue Jays, serves up a wagyu Grand Slam Dog.
And…
Dodger Stadium serves Kagoshima Wagyu Beef Skewers. Not exactly a hot dog, but still some swanky ballpark eats.
A little bit ago, the nice folks at KC Cattle Company sent us a package of their wagyu beef hot dogs to sample (no strings attached). Yes, as you would imagine, these are a BIG upgrade from your traditional stadium offering.

I figured that the best way to approach this would be like one of our burger reviews. Let’s do this! 🌭
WHAT WE HAD: Wagyu Beef Hot Dog – KC Cattle Company
HOW WE PREPARED IT: Grilled
📒 OUR TASTING NOTES
• This dog had a super “beefy” flavor. My favorite hot dog brands are Vienna Beef and Hebrew National. The beefiness is beyond those two for sure.
• When you bite into this hot dog, it has that familiar snap that you get from eating a premium dog with a natural casing.
• These things grill up great. I know that there are other ways to cook them. But grilling really brings out the meaty wagyu taste!
Let’s check out how all of this looked after I cooked it…

😋 Savor Sarasota Restaurant Week
Everybody LOVES a great restaurant deal. If you’ve dined out over the past couple of years (and I know you have), you may have had a case of menu sticker shock. Prices for everything are pretty elevated. So, any chance for a little relief is welcomed.

Enter Savor Sarasota Restaurant Week! It’s the 21st annual edition of this popular eat-a-thon. Yes, you can expect two-course lunches priced at $25 and three-course dinners at $45.
Last year, more than 60 local restaurants featured special prix fixe menus and pricing. This year, Visit Sarasota is hoping to best that number.
This year’s event will run from June 1 to 14. That’s not a super long period of time. So, you’ll need to make a plan. And we will be here with you every step of the way to assist with that very important planning. Stay tuned… ️
🍷 + 🎶 Spinning for a Great Cause.
Do you feel like you’ve got a Pocket Full of Kryptonite? Are you sitting at home, hungering for a taste of mid-’90s music? I thought there was a possibility that you might be.
Mark your calendar for MAR 20TH and get ready to tap your feet to the Spin Doctors. Yes, the very same Spin Doctors that were plastered all over the radio several years before Y2K.
This is a benefit for the Florida Winefest (Caring for Children’s Charities). You can get up close to the band with some special VIP access. Want more info? We’ve got that for you. – SPIN DOCTORS VIP INFO HERE!
⚡Lightning Round
🍪 Insomnia Cookies (2264 Gulf Gate Dr. | 941-300-5641) has opened its very first Sarasota area store. Their cookie flavors range from Red Velvet Chunk to Chocolate Lava Cake. They even have ice cream to go with those cookies!
🍔 Wahlburgers Opens in SRQ. Up until now, if you wanted a Wahlburger and you lived in Sarasota, you had to pick up some of their patties at the grocery store and cook them up yourself. No longer! This Massachusetts burger franchise is now serving up delicious smashburgers and shakes out of Concourse B at SRQ Airport! Treat yourself pre- or post-flight. ✈️
🍩 That’s Your Donut Calling! Local donut fav Peachy’s is set to open its new Cattlemen location. The grand opening is set for MAR 13-14 from 7AM to 1PM. They’ll be giving away one FREE glazed per person as a way to celebrate! The new store is located at 999 Cattlemen Road, Unit E.
🍸 Just How High is the Bar? Get ready to sip and sample some of the best cocktails in town. Yes, Set the Bar is back! On SUN, APR 19TH at Ed Smith Stadium, some of Sarasota’s most talented cocktail chemists will vie for that coveted title of Best in Show! This Sarasota-Manatee Originals event is always one of the highlights of the spring! – SET THE BAR TICKETS HERE!
📝 END NOTES –
(a) Yes, it’s National Celery Month. On the surface, it may not seem like much to celebrate; that is, unless you are Mr. Celery! This is the month that the beloved mascot of the Wilmington Blue Rocks “lives” for! Not familiar with one of the most unusual mascots in all of sports? We can bring you up to speed – READ ABOUT THE LEGEND OF MR. CELERY!
(b) The pita now has its very own food holiday (3/29). The Duo Doner & Deli out on SK makes the most of this versatile carrier. We wrote a piece a while back about their Doner Kabob. If you missed it, you can read it HERE. They were also featured in the current issue of Edible Magazine. – READ THE EDIBLE ARTICLE HERE.
(c) The Wahlburger location at SRQ is located AFTER the TSA checkpoint. That means you will need to clear security to visit. I know, that’s kind of a bummer. 😢
(d) Just a quick FYI regarding those KC Cattle Company wagyu hot dogs. We provided you with a link and a coupon code in case you’d like to purchase some. It IS NOT an affiliate link. We DO NOT make any money from the sale of these delicious hot dogs. Just in case you were wondering. 😀
