Quick Bites – Parlor, Whiskey, and A Bunch of Anniversaries!
There’s a lot of stuff happening in our restaurant scene. Take a look…
🍩 Time to Make the Doughnuts.

Good news if you’re a doughnut lover and you happen to find yourself out on Siesta Key. Parlor Doughnuts (5055 Ocean Blvd. | 941- 554-4916) has just brought their “Famous Layered Doughnuts” to Siesta Center (this is the same plaza that houses The Duo, Doner & Deli).

Yes, doughnuts are a specialty item. And it might not be something that you can eat every day without worrying about your A1C. But there is no denying just how delicious a freshly baked, satisfyingly soft, sweet treat can be.
📝 Parlor does offer a “Keto Friendly” doughnut option. They come in chocolate, vanilla, maple, cherry chocolate, cinnamon sugar, and powdered sugar flavors.
There are doughnut “minis” for those of you who just need (or want) that one sweet bite. And they offer a nice selection of espresso and coffee drinks (hot & cold) along with iced teas and hot chocolate (maybe save the last one for December 😉).

They’re open daily, 6AM to 4PM. That gives you lots of time to grab your sugar buzz!
🥃 Whiskey Business. Yes, whiskey is having its moment. And, yes, sometimes it feels like that moment has been going on for more than just a moment. Soon, downtown Sarasota will have another option for brown liquor sippin’.

Warren, American | Whiskey | Kitchen (1400 Main St. | Five Points) will be opening its third location (Delray Beach & Naples) right smack in the heart of downtown Sarasota. There is some pretty storied Sarasota restaurant history in this building. For 26 years, this was Patrick’s location.
The addition of Warren will give that Five Points intersection a nice pop. With more people coming and going from that building, it will really add to the upscale urban feel of that part of Main Street.
FYI – Their other locations have a daily Happy Hour. Hopefully we’ll have one too! We can all use more options. 😉
💵 Split the Pot. “50-50!!” Chances are, if you’ve attended most any type of live sporting event in the past ten or so years, you’ve heard that cry. It’s mostly volunteers soliciting donations with the tantalizing prospect of taking home one half of a BIG jackpot. The other half being donated to a local charity. Win-win!!

This past spring training season, the Baltimore Orioles (based here in Sarasota at Ed Smith Stadium) donated the tidy sum of $47,000 to the All Faiths Food Bank. Those funds will go a long way toward helping them achieve their goal of “serving the neediest and most vulnerable first: children, seniors, veterans and people in crisis.”
If you didn’t happen to make it to a game this year but would still like to help support All Faiths and their mission, you can find out more information BY CLICKING HERE.
⚡ LIGHTNING ROUND!
1️⃣ Southside Village’s very own Adeline rolls out a brand-new Happy Hour menu. Yes, of course it includes “The Burger.” I mean, how could it not? You can choose from two hot dishes, two cold dishes, and a great selection of beer and wine. Happy Hour runs Tuesday through Saturday, 4PM to 6PM. – FULL HAPPY HOUR MENU HERE!
2️⃣ Yes, there is waterfront dining on Siesta Key! Let’s clear up a little bit of confusion and set the record straight. The Turtle Beach Grill, located towards the south end of SK, will close at the end of this month. Turtles on Little Sarasota Bay is not closing. As a matter of fact, they’re celebrating 39 years of Siesta Key waterfront dining! That’s a long time. Stop on down and say HI! Thanks, Jane, for bringing that to our attention!
3️⃣ Speaking of anniversaries, we’ve got a few to celebrate.
• Big Top Brewing is celebrating one year in its new location. And of course, they’re doing it with a party! The festivities take place on May 31st from 11AM to 11PM – HERE ARE THE PARTY DETAILS!
• Bricks Smoked Meats is turning eight years old! Boy, did those years just fly right by. We wrote about their new brunch offerings earlier this month. If you missed it, READ IT HERE!

• The Anna Maria Oyster Bar’s UTC location turns two! Thirty years ago, they opened their first location out on the Anna Maria City Pier. They’ve been going strong, adding new AMOBs ever since! Congrats!
4️⃣ Since we first wrote about the closing of the Artisan Cheese Company earlier this month, A LOT has happened. First, there was disbelief, then some sadness, followed by a successful GoFundMe effort, and now the news that our little Rosemary District cheese shop will STAY OPEN! That is a pretty impressive turnaround in only a couple of weeks. It goes to show the power and will of a cheese-loving community! Good job and congrats, Louise!
5️⃣ Lastly, Savor Sarasota is just a couple of weeks away. Yes, we will be bringing you some of the highlights, including our annual, printable checklist of participating Savor restaurants. Look for that in your inbox next Friday.
Until then… 👋
